be immortals
immortals, just not for long, for long
he had been this way before; on a quiet night that had no other sound save for the gentle sway of the wind. it had rushed him in a sense, driven him from the place with his tale between his legs and his ears flat on his skull. it had been so unsettling, so unnerving that when he had finally decided to return - nearly four moons later - on his own behave, he had been shocked and almost relieved that the feeling no longer lingered. but his reasoning for today's trip, and so late at night? the older warrior had not been able to fall asleep after setting up the dawn patrol, a task he had grown used to in the last few moons under his leader's command.
argusclaw, as cats had come to known him since his 12th moon. brushing his way along the brushes that set forth the entrance to this hidden grove, the elderly tom seemed to carry himself rather proudly, his shoulders squared until he had to duck and soon he was bathed in the soft glow of the lightning bugs. 'fireflies, they are called fireflies' he thought to himself, remembering the lecture he had been given, at age forty by his dying father that those lightning bugs as he so affectionately called the little bugs with the glowing behinds, were called fireflies. to say that it was hard to crush the sole thought of a forty moon old tom, was a difficult defeat must have been there when argusclaw literally pouted and turned away from his ailing father muttering something about how fireflies was a stupid name.
now he stared at his lightning bugs, and smiled fondly. there was no feeling of that odd feeling known by many as love, in his chest. no, it was simply a wave of utter wonder that lapped at his chest. wide amber eyes casted around him he moved forward, pulling into the little grove and settling down to watch the lightning bugs lights bounce off the stone walls. "a pity i did not think to bring beecloud here, she would of enjoyed a pretty sight." he meowed softly under breath, long fluffy tail swaying as his eyes followed the secret dance that these lightning bugs displayed to him.
