snowpaw | | thunderclan |
she-cat | | 14 moons | | medicine cat apprentice |
Snowpaw is a plump, soft-bodied she-cat with somewhat short legs for her overall size. The result is that she looks younger than she is, and a soft fluffy white coat and round face do very little to detract from that. Snowpaw has one green eye and one blue eye. Unfortunately, like many white cats with blue eyes, she is completely deaf on the same side as her blue eye. She still has quite a bit of growing to do, but it’s doubtful that she’ll ever be as large as most other Thunderclanners. Then again, as the future Medicine Cat, it doesn’t seem to matter very much to her or her clan mates. Snowpaw is generally not regarded as attractive due to the way that she carries and presents herself, which can come across as overly assertive at times.
Logical and pragmatic, Snowpaw often surprises those around her with a world view matured far beyond her actual age. Despite her youthful appearances, Snowpaw holds quite the authoritative attitude with those around her, and doesn’t shy away from stepping up to issue commands or rise to challenges. She has been described as both unfailingly reliable as well as rather bossy at times. She can become quite uncomfortable in situations outside of her control. Because Snowpaw has difficult disassociating herself from her role within the clan, she can sometimes struggle to relate on a personal level with her clan mates, as she has a tendency to view them as her patients.
Born to Minknose and Drizzletail along with her three siblings, Snowkit held odd proportions from birth, having shorter legs and a larger head than all of her littermates. When her eyes opened, Drizzletail worried that she may be deaf. As luck would have it, one of her eyes eventually changed from the baby blues to a brighter yellow-y green. Unfortunately, the other remained blue, and sure enough, Snowkit was found to be completely deaf on that side. Despite her moderate disability Snowkit appeared to develop in a mostly normal fashion and was apprenticed much the same as her siblings once she reached six moons of age.
She trained to be a warrior, though it was clear that her interests were elsewhere. She was always asking questions that her mentor didn’t know how to answer, and about things that warriors and their apprentices usually didn’t concern themselves with. Due to how often she inquired about Starclan and their ways, it was presumed that she was a deeply faithful young she-cat. The reality was and is very much the opposite—Snowpaw doesn’t believe in Starclan, though she has tried. Regardless of her lack of faith, Snowpaw’s interests honed themselves in on medicine and herbs, and how to help and heal her clan mates. She made it a point to accompany the medicine cat on their errands and to try and pick up what she could from them. It wasn’t until she was nine moons old that Snowpaw was taken under the Medicine Cat’s wing as their formal apprentice. Her former mentor was crushed—Snowpaw had been his first apprentice, and he always assumed that her new path was because of something wrong that he had done while teaching her.
In her new role, Snowpaw thrives. She has strong memorization capabilities and learns very quickly. Her nest-side manner may be appalling, but Snowpaw is undoubtedly bright and skilled with herbs and their uses. She will continue to train as the medicine cat apprentice until her skills are deemed sufficient to receive her new name. Whether or not her lack of faith will come into question remains to be seen.
